I can imagine one of the reasons you’re here is because you love to shop. If that’s case, then we have something in common! Today I want to share a little bit about one of my experiences with recycling clothing. Let’s dive into my most recent alteration – the white hoodie.
My friend and I went on a trip for spring break where I bought myself a brand-new white hoodie. I have always been very careful with my clothing and how I take care of it, especially the items that are white. The first time I wore this hoodie I proceeded to make jokes about pouring my coffee really far away and eating my food over the table to prevent any spills on my new white hoodie. I went the entire day with no problems and no stains. We even went to a Mexican restaurant where I ate spicy dripping tacos and still made it out stain free. At the end of dinner, I boasted about how proud I was that I made it through my meal without dripping on my sweatshirt. When we got the check, I opened the pen to sign my receipt and POP! The ink of the pen exploded all over the bottom of the hoodie. I was on the verge of tears, but I couldn’t help but laugh at the progression of my journey through my day wearing white.
I went home and I tried everything to get the stain out, bleach, oxi clean, and even rubbing alcohol. None of it worked and the big black blob remained on the pocket of my hoodie. Instead of throwing away the sweatshirt I decided to crop it. I grabbed my sharpest scissors and chopped away at the fabric right above the pocket of the sweatshirt where the stain was. Just like that, I had a new hoodie all over again but this time it was cropped and could be worn in different ways. Rather than being an oversized comfy hoodie, I had turned it into a fashionable cropped hoodie to wear as a gym cover up. Stick around and check out more on my page titled Thrifting & Recycling!
